At first I thought the selection looked huge, but once I actually started looking for books for my course, loads of them were either missing or unavailable. It got annoying quickly, especially after waiting in a queue only to find out they didn’t even have what I needed.

"I signed up for Perlego because..."
I signed up for Perlego because I figured it would be easy to bounce between my tablet and phone, but quickly I started noticing the same problems over and over. On my older iPad, the app freezes a lot, and on my Android phone the pages load in this awkward way that makes reading feel like a chore.
I also tried using it in the browser to see if that would fix the pattern, but it’s mostly the same story. The text doesn’t always fit properly, and syncing works sometimes but not reliably enough. If I can’t comfortably use it on the devices I actually own, it’s hard to justify paying for it.

I tried the subscription for about a month, but it felt a bit too pricey for what was actually included. A few of the books I really needed weren’t even available, so I ended up having to buy them somewhere else anyway, which kind of defeated the whole point. Maybe it works better for other people, but for me... yeah, I just cancelled.

I kept trying to figure out the pattern of how their privacy settings worked, but the more I clicked around, the less confident I felt. It wasn’t super clear what data was being shared or why, and that made me uneasy. Maybe it’s fine, but I didn’t feel comfortable using it.

"Helpful support, even if it’s not perfect yet"
I ran into some issues getting my screen reader to work properly on a couple of books, which was frustrating because I was trying to read one evening with a cup of tea and just kept getting stuck. I contacted support and, to their credit, they got back to me quickly with a workaround that actually helped. It’s not completely smooth yet, and I hope they keep improving the accessibility side of things, but they seem to genuinely care and didn’t just send me a generic response.

I reached out and then basically got ignored for days. No replies, no updates, nothing. It felt like I was just being brushed aside, and it was really frustrating having to sit there wondering if anyone even cared enough to respond.

"Changes showed up with zero follow-up"
I logged in one day and things had just changed with no real heads up. The updates weren’t explained clearly, and I basically had to figure it out while using it. What made it more annoying was that there was no follow-up afterward either, like no one checked in or bothered to explain what changed. Frustrating as a user

"Seems legit and the books look properly published"
I was a little skeptical at first, but after checking a few titles, they do seem to be from actual publishers and not just random uploads. Little things like the edition info, citations, and publisher details all looked right to me. The search is a bit clunky here and there, but overall it feels legit and has been useful for uni reading.

I used Perlego for a little while, and the service itself worked fine, but for some reason I never felt totally comfortable with the billing and account info side of things. Nothing major happened, but the brand just didn’t feel especially transparent to me, so I had a hard time fully trusting it.

As a uni student who relies heavily on keeping references organized, I was disappointed with perlego’s citation export. I mainly signed up for course reading, and I expected the citation side to make life easier, but the formats kept coming out a bit off and getting them into Zotero or Word was more frustrating than it should’ve been.
I ended up fixing authors, dates, and page details manually, which felt ridiculous because that’s exactly the kind of admin I was trying to avoid. The support pages didn’t really clear things up either. If you’re the kind of person who needs clean references for essays or research, this part of the experience is a hassle.

"Canceled but still got charged"
I canceled before my renewal date, but I still ended up getting charged. What made it even more confusing was that the email seemed to say one thing, while my account/status felt like it was saying something else. Finding the cancel button was a hassle too, and when I contacted support, I just got passed around without any real help. I asked for a refund since I barely used the service, but they said no. it was a frustrating experience and I don’t plan on coming back...

"Keeps logging me out at the worst times"
I keep getting logged out, and then signing back in fails way too often. It’s really frustrating, especially when I’ve already been waiting in a queue and finally get my turn, only to be kicked out and have to deal with the login all over again.

"Student verification is a total joke"
I tried signing up with my student discount, but the verification process was a mess. I uploaded exactly what they asked for, and it still kept failing with no clear explanation. Support took forever to respond and was useless when they finally did. I ended up wasting a bunch of time on this nonsense and just gave up. If you need it sorted quickly, don’t bother

I keep running into issues with the Google sign-in not working, and it’s really frustrating. I reached out to support, but they weren’t much help. I’m sure other customers are dealing with the same thing, so I hope this gets fixed soon

I’ve been using Perlego on both my laptop and phone, and the syncing has been kind of a mess. I can’t say for sure if it happens to everyone or if it’s partly my setup, but my reading position often doesn’t update properly, and I’ve had highlights seem like they disappeared or didn’t carry over. I keep having to hunt around for where I left off, which gets old really fast when I’m trying to study. Maybe there’s a workaround, but so far it’s been more hassle than it’s worth for me

I tried using it for a few textbooks, but the formatting was kind of a mess. There were weird line breaks, cut-off tables, and random spacing that made it hard to focus, especially on my phone. I kept wondering if it was just me or the specific books I picked, but either way it made studying more frustrating than helpful. I’d feel a lot better using it if I knew the ebook layouts were fixed and more consistent.
